In line with the new strategic approach adopted at the GGB on 29 July 2008, GAELIC now has three objectives. Each of the three objectives functions independently of the other unless there are specific areas of overlap and opportunities for co-operation. Reports of progress and plans are sent to the central GAELIC office for reporting to the Boards. Each of the three areas is designed to deal with issues facing academic libraries in the 21st century and team members communicate regularly either by holding telephone meetings or meeting together. Workshops are held to allow closer interaction and inclusion of interested staff who are not members of the teams.
OBJECTIVE 1
To promote optimal use of the
Millennium system in the GAELIC member Libraries
OBJECTIVE 2
To build capacity through
identification and provision of training needs and services for
optimal utilization of resources
OBJECTIVE 3
To improve cost-efficiency through joint procurement and resource
sharing
