Congratulations to Gwenda Thomas!!
The GAELIC Governing Board would like to announce the departure/resignation of Ms Gwenda Thomas from her position of FOTIM General Manager on 31 May 2006. Ms Thomas has served GAELIC with dedication, pride and enthusiasm as Director for the past 3years. She has managed to be the support to the Directors of Library Services and gave her full support to all GAELIC projects. It is sad to lose her, but we have to learn to share, not to be selfish. She is joining Rhodes University as Director: Library Services from 1 June 2006.
She has done her share, engineered GAELIC for success and endowed it with seeds of greatness. GAELIC has accomplished much success with her.

FOTIM and CHELSA invite you to attend the 2nd International Quality Assurance Conference, which has been expanded to include a library component, focusing specifically on
- Practical experience regarding quality management frameworks utilised in libraries
- The role of the library in the preparation for the institutional audit and compiling the library section in the institutional portfolio
- Practical experience with the application of LIBQUAL in libraries
- Conducting internal library reviews
- The role of the library in programme reviews
- Merging Quality Systems of libraries across campuses
- Quality assuring innovations and transformations in libraries, eg. e-Learning, Electronic Classrooms, Information Systems, etc
The provisional programme is now available, and will include workshops presented by Jeremy Atkinson, Chair of SCONUL Working Group on QA, and by Joan Rapp, Executive Director, University of Cape Town libraries.
