Dear GAELIC friends

In this month's newsletter, we bring you an invitation to join the Virtual Learning Focus Group. Then we look at upcoming GAELIC Events and other activities in the LIS sector. Please remember to send notices for inclusion in this newsletter to tanya@fotim.ac.za.

Our e-mail system has been giving us über-cyber-trouble for the last few weeks. If we have missed a mail from you, or have not responded to something you sent us, or if an item does not appear in this newsletter, our sincere apologies and please resend us your message.

We have been sending emails from wits.ac.za addresses for the last week or so, but are still receiving mail via our old emails. This situation might change, and we will confirm details in the next newsletter…watch this space!

With warm regards
Tanya, Jenny and Anke

  • Developing new and refining existing ways and means of accessing electronic library resources such as the catalogue and electronic databases from within course management systems e.g. Blackboard/WebCT.
  • Investigating the use of Web 2.0 and Library 2/0 functionalities in the web based learning environment. We are currently investigating social book marking
Please contact one of the following people if you would like to join us:
Dr Anette van Vuren
UJ Library and Information Centre

Mr. Cor Niemand

You do not need any special skills to participate in this group - just interest in the topic and a willingness to learn and work with colleagues from other GAELIC member libraries. Please let us hear from you!
